A group of students from the English Department at the University of Human Development paid a visit to Leaders Private School in Sulaymaniyah on 28 April 2026, aiming to observe teaching methods and evaluate various approaches that can be used in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), a course studied in the English Department.
Throughout the visit, students engaged in structured classroom observations across primary levels, focusing on pedagogy, methods of language teaching, and the dynamics of learning and teaching. They examined how different approaches may implicitly or explicitly shape instruction. These observations enabled them to critically reflect on the ongoing question: is there a perfect method of teaching?
The visit also brought to light the issue of institutional practices, administration, and the integration of digital media in education. It helped highlight both opportunities and challenges in modern teaching environments, reinforcing the relationship between concept and concrete application.
The experience emphasised the importance of studying methods of teaching within TEFL, as delivered in UHD classrooms, and demonstrated how theory becomes meaningful through practice. Students were encouraged to engage in reflective discussions, further deepening their pedagogical awareness.
