Dr Mazen Ismael Ghareeb represented the University of Human Development (UHD) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Department at a national workshop organised by the Technical College of Computer and Informatics Engineering at Erbil Polytechnic University. Sponsored by Optimal Company, the two-day workshop was held in Erbil for AI departments across all universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Held under the banner ‘Curriculum Alignment and Future-Proofing Careers,’ the workshop aimed to standardise AI curricula and gather input from academic representatives across various universities.
Because AI departments are relatively new to Kurdistan universities, their curricula are still in the nascent stages. These programmes require continuous updating to keep pace with rapid advancements in the field of AI and the changing demands of the labour market.
UHD established its AI department two years ago. Since its inception, the department has welcomed a cohort of active, committed students eager to master the technology, guided by senior lecturers and external industry experts.
