UHD contributes to the financial aid the Higher Education Ministry delivered to Chamchamal

The University of Human Development contributed to the financial aid delivered to Chamchamal and the adjacent areas by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which amounted to 400 million Iraqi dinars.

The University of Human Development President, Professor Dr Mariwan Ahmed Rasheed, attended a meeting convened by the Ministry of Higher Education for the university presidents, which aimed to combine efforts to assist the areas.

A major flood, following heavy rain, devastated large parts of Chamchamal, Takya, and some villages on 10 December 2025. Local donors provided financial aid to help the victims and compensate for the loss people in those areas suffered – many families there were desperate for help following the disaster.

The University of Human Development acted under the instructions of its Head of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr Ali Qaradaghi, who is also the President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and the Head of the Humanitarian League Organisation. The Humanitarian League Organisation had also supplied substantial aid to the affected people.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Aram Muhammed Qadr, sent a formal letter to the University of Human Development dated 17 December 2025, thanking and appreciating the university’s generous contribution to the aid campaign launched by his ministry to help and support schools, higher education institutions, and also people affected by the flood.
