Nature is Our Mother
Kurdish
‘Nature is Our Mother’ is one of the notable books included in a series written by Dr Ali Qaradaghi, based on years of research into the jurisprudence of balance. This book delves into the jurisprudence of balance within the contexts of general and economic development, while also providing insights into global environmental instructions.
Dr Qaradaghi explores nature from an Islamic perspective, emphasising Islamic ethics and overarching goals, and their role in achieving the desired environmental balance. He begins by introducing the concept of jurisprudence of balance and its foundational pillars in protecting nature. The book is then divided into seven comprehensive parts.
In the first part, Dr Qaradaghi discusses the essence of nature, referencing the disciplines that serve nature, outlined in the Quran and Sunnah as well as other general principles. The second part examines the relationship between the objectives of Sharia and nature, highlighting how to attain the balance we seek with those objectives.
The third part explains how Islamic teachings and principles inspire humanity to safeguard nature rather than harm it. The fourth part focuses on Islam's concern for the planet, supported by several verses from the Quran and Hadith as examples of this concern.
The fifth part is dedicated to the scientific references to plants found in the Quran. In the sixth part, Dr Qaradaghi argues that achieving balance in nature is the only way to protect it from the threats of environmental destruction, discussing some causes of such destruction.
In the seventh and final part, the author addresses the circular economy and its connection to nature. He defines and introduces the concept of the circular economy, providing a brief history and outlining its goals.
Dr Qaradaghi concludes his book by presenting the regulations for nature protection in Qatar as an exemplary model to follow.
