Asst Prof. Karwan Awrahman delivered a seminar on the problems in the Iraqi constitution regarding the federal system in Iraq, at the Seminar Hall on Wednesday, 12th October 2022.

The Seminar was arranged by the Quality Assurance of the College of Law and Politics at the University of Human Development.

Mr Karwan highlighted some internal conflicts within the Iraqi constitution and the weird character of the federal system in Iraq. He mentioned that the system has many faults and that the ruling majority, who have been in control of the central government since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein’s regime in 2003, are not in favour of federalism and they do not support it, this fact combined with the political situation in Iraq will jeopardise the continuity of the system in the future – federalism can be something of the past in a near future.
